I read an article from the papers last week regarding a A*Star scholar (Mr Lin), 25 whom fell to his death last Wed.
Mr Lin had gone, look for his "friend" to ask her to be his girlfriend but she refused as she had chosen his close friend instead. His father, when arrived at the scene, saw the young couple's head bowed, eye's tearing.
When they saw how sad he was, the couple knelt down and apologised. The 2 did not go into the details as to what had happened, leaving Mr and Mrs Lin confused over how their son had died. He had told his son earlier that he should let go, but he couldn't and hence this tragedy.
This article reminded me of something that happened when i was still in poly 7yrs ago. I got very close to this girl whom i met in NYP bowling club. We'd often meet to eat, bowl, watch movies, having long phone conversations and soon later we were together. As she's a non-believer and so i backslided. It took me quite awhile to realise; my life was screwed, and that i've got to do something to salvage the mess i was in.. i struggled before i decided to pull-out by stop calling, messaging and replying her. The process was difficult. This went on for few weeks before she was seen together with one of my poly bowling buddy. I felt terrible and regretted the actions i took as i knew she did it out to spite me. I've tried to contact her but she has moved, changed all her contact numbers and remained uncontactable ever since.
