Trophies + Awards = Achievements..?

(Is TROPHIES + AWARDS = ACHIEVEMENTS..?)
From soccer, swimming, bowling, athletics, cross-country..... to dancing trophies. I participated competition level in sports of all kinds i.e soccer, basketball, athletics, bowling, swimming, water-polo etc determining to win something out of each game/competition.
But does all these trophies equate to being successful in whatever you're doing i.e in life..? Hmm.. something to ponder about.

God will make a way.

God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way.
He works in ways we cannot see,
He will make a way for me.
He will be my guide,
Hold me closely to His side.
With love and strength for each new day,
He will make a way,
He will make a way.

Homes are not the safest place after all..

Just when the humanitarian, financial, food supplies efforts focus is on Myanmar, there came another - China's quake.

China's biggest earthquake for a community left couple of thousands dead, missing or buried, triggered a desperate nationwide relief effort. Rescue troops struggled by air, land and sea to reach Southwestern China areas. >12000 people had died in Sichuan alone and more were reported killed elsewhere, but the figures are expected to soar as the whole picture emerges clearer of the staggering devastation.

A 70-yr old retiree was leaving his hometown said ;"My wife died in the quake and my house was destroyed. I'm going to Chengdu but I don't know where I'll leave.
Lord, heal their land and the wounded. may the homeless find their place of refuge.

SIR, have mercy on us..

Abbrev. for SIR is S'pore Inflation Rates..
Recently we have a slew of shocking news about inflation rates hitting 16-yr high. This comes as no surprise to any of us. External factors like US$100/oil barrel coupled with GST & ERP hikes to 7% and up to $5 respectively, must inevitably translate to higher costs of doing business and hence higher prices

The mismatch in the supply and demand of residential and commercial properties certainly did not help keep rentals down. What's worrying is that most of us see this as only the beginning of an unhealthy upward trend and are not as confident as our leaders that this can be managed as planned.

In recent parliament debate, the people were adviced to choose cheaper alternatives to minimise the impact of rising prices. It is real; as are the concerns of lower income citizens who must once bear the brunt of financial burden. This is almost like Marie, the Queen of France said during the French Revolution ;"Let them eat cake." When told that the peasants did not have anymore bread."

Funny Jokes

Q.) How do you know a mad has used the computer..?
A.) When you see liquid paper applied on the screen.

Q.) How do you know they've just used the computer again..?
A.) When you see them scribbling over the liquid paper.

One day.. Chin, Caus and Ind was travelling across a desert in a rover when it broke-down and unable to restart. Caus suggested that they take whatever from the car and go on their separate ways. Without arguing, Chin dismantled and took the radiator. Caus took the aircon, leaving Ind; and he took the car door.

Chin and Caus were puzzled as to why Ind took the door?
Chin explained; he took the radiator so he can drink the radiator water when he's thirsty.
"Ok.. fair enough," Caus and Ind replied.
Caus exclaimed; i've got a way with air-con, that i can make it work w/o starting car.
Chin and Ind stood dumbfounded in amazement.
Ind, with so much enthusiasm, shared; i can wind down the window whenever i feel hot!

Cycloned Myanmar

22000 people killed and twice as many still missing. Humanitarian aids rendered and few are still on their way. We've been activated and on standby to go but what's keeping us?
I was just thinking; How different are we from the people in New Orleans, Aceh, Myanmar etc that they're to suffer from multiple calamity threats.
Lord, do have mercy on them and may the homeless find a new place to reside soon.

The missing piece.

I've been missing this jigsaw piece to complete the most wonderful jigsaw puzzle since i was 20. I wouldn't say its a perfect masterpiece but I can very much ascertain that I can't find anywhere else.

The good news was; I found that beautiful, precious piece on December 2005(near X'mas) but... The bad news was; that piece just don't fit in. I tried all ways and the hole in the puzzle has kept me frustrated. I nearly gave up. I knew if I do not fit that piece in, I'd get the rest messed up big time.

I've spent time, effort and $ on other jigsaws but none could compare. Now.. hmm.. persist...? try other ways or give up..?

"I'm totally not to blame"

This is a brief account for an accident that happened on 29 Nov 2006.

He stopped his car abruptly on fast lane of a busy highway to insert his cashcard. It caused an accident that left a lady seriously injured. But to Mr Lim Huang Khim, 45, it was a "natural thing" to do. He does not think he did anything wrong. Despite being fined for his inconsiderate driving that caused a female rider to slam into the car behind his which had brake in time. She ended up being sued by the driver of the second car whose repair damage came to $7000.
He was chided by District Judge for his cavalier attitude by insisting he was not to blame and smiled several times as he recounted the accident on the stand. What? $200 fine and 9 demerit points for somewhat a future that's gone.
Biker has dislocated pelvis, blood clot in brain, fractured fingers, memory loss and now jobless yet she says; I'm resigned and will not expect any apology from him because all along he had been insisting it wasn't his fault.

My take on this; Its very obvious that jerk(Mr Lim) should be fully responsible for the accident as he stopped abruptly on a fast lane of a busy highway. I felt not only the punishment was a let-off for the injuries, pain and agony suffered but he should be partially responsible for the damage caused to the vehicle behind him, instead he shirked all claims.. If i'd have witnessed it, not only will I stand in favour and assist the rider(for i was a rider once), but will also confront the "innocent" driver.
